After a remarkable and charismatic 31 year career, Sweda Company, LLC’s founder and CEO, Marvin Ruwin, has retired.
Marv has acquired many life achievements since beginning his career as a radar specialist in World War II. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in electrical engineering, he became a technical advisor for the Navy in Far Eastern countries. From there he moved on to Packard Bell working as a project manager for the THOR missile program. He later joined Vernitron Corporation where he rose from test Engineer to President in 7 short years. Soon thereafter, Marv opened an assembly plant in Singapore with more than 1,000 employees, which he sold a few years later and retired; for the first time.
In 1976, only 4 months after he retired, Marv decided that retirement was not for him and wanted to capitalize on his international experience and his love for marketing. Hence, Sweda was born. Marv built Sweda by combining the hard-working drive and marketing excellence of employees from a diversity of backgrounds.
Under Marv’s direction and leadership, Sweda became a perennial Top 40 supplier and the company is poised for great future success. He considered the employees at Sweda as part of his family. Marv always believed that we are in “the best industry in the world.”
Sweda’s continued success is a testament to Mr. Ruwin’s vision to provide quality products, competitive prices and timely delivery.
